couples anniversary in los angeles...


Sometimes artists experience burnout. I've been there - actually stopped shooting with my camera for three whole years because of burnout. Sometimes I have a hard time turning down projects that I don't want to do, and it leads to me growing to lose my passion. And then sometimes I get really incredible opportunities like this, where the session is low stakes and I have the space to flex my creative muscles... and I get really incredible inspiration.


I did this storytelling couples session in Los Angeles for my sister. These two, Mandy and Rich, are her friends of nearly twenty years. Only being twenty-five years old myself, I, of course, can understand that's an incredibly impressive feat. Mandy and Rich had never had their photos professionally taken, so I had the amazing opportunity to be their first.


I love my clients - I love the trust that they put in me, and there's nothing better than someone telling me their dream and being able to literally build that dreamscape... but there's also something so amazing that happens with an unexpected session with no plan at all. The world was my oyster here.


I knew I wanted this to be a cinematic storytelling session—something that really reflected their love through documentary-style photography. It's been something I've been striving for, but haven't really been able to get to. With clients who book with me there are expectations and a certain level of creative freedom, but here, in Los Angeles, with a sweet couple visiting from Alaska? All I had was freedom to create.


I will definitely be visiting Los Angeles in the very near future again. It's my dream to be a destination photographer, and I'm realizing the only way to do that is by just booking trips... so Los Angeles, you can count on seeing me again very soon!
